A Uighur woman who survived Chinese concentration camps, where the CCP (Chinese Communist Party) imprisons and subjects ethnic and religious minorities to forced labor, called on the NBA to stop prioritizing its business with China and condemn these human rights violations. She also warned player LeBron James not to continue selling out to the Chinese regime because “money can’t do everything,” according to a Breitbart report.

Mihrigul Tursun, an ethnic Uighur Muslim, made these strong statements while participating in a march last Friday, Nov. 12, in Washington, DC, to ask Biden to act in repudiation of the genocide suffered by the ethnic minority to which she belongs.

The demonstration was organized by the East Turkestan Government-in-Exile, a parliamentary-based organization established by Uighurs, Kazakhs, and other peoples of East Turkestan in Washington DC.

In previous statements, Tursun, 29, revealed the horrific torture she was subjected to when she was three times forced into illegal Chinese regime prisons between 2015 and 2018 in the Chinese-occupied East Turkestan region, which the CCP calls Xinjiang. The torture she received, which is recurrent in Chinese prisons, included electrocution, beatings, and sleep deprivation.

Tursun spoke of the complicit silence of those who do business with China without condemning the abuses committed by the regime. He mentioned that many influential brands, such as the NBA and Nike, “will start to keep silent because they don’t want to lose this good business, this good relationship. They don’t want to think about humanity.”

“They don’t want to think about what happened [to] a lot of people, like genocide. They do not think about this – they just think about their own business,” Tursun said.

Regarding LeBron James, the NBA player who has juicy business dealings with China and who, he stated in 2019 when asked about human rights abuses there, does not believe that “every issue should be everybody’s problem as well,” Tursun expressed:

“If you were me and you had my situation in your family…if you had my situation in your country, what would you do? You have to tell the world, ‘Help me help my family,'” Tursun said.

He added, “But now, it’s not you. It’s come to me. It’s come to my people. I am doing this. You are human – do you want to think about your own money, your own business, or you want to think about humanity?”

However, on the other hand, he vindicated the courage of the player Ernes Kanter, who, despite the pressures, has not betrayed his conscience and stands firm in his defense of the Uighur people in the face of the Chinese genocide.

“Enes Kanter, he talks about Uighur [issues]. We are very appreciative. We hope, like this person, a lot of people get behind [the] Uighur [cause and] help us stop genocide,” Tursun said.

Suffering the greatest tortures under the murderous Chinese regime.

According to Tursun’s testimony, published by Breitbart in 2018, after studying in a Chinese school forced by the CCP from the age of 12, she moved to Egypt where she met her husband, married, and had triplets, two boys and a girl.

She said she returned to China so her parents could meet her children and help her with their care. But when she arrived at the airport, Chinese police separated her from the children, put a black sack over her head, and interrogated her for three hours about her activities in Egypt before arresting her.

In addition to the terrible physical suffering, one of the greatest ordeals she faced was learning that one of her young children had died at the regime’s hands.

But the Chinese communist regime not only denies having committed these aberrations, but through its propaganda media, has mocked Tursun’s testimony and has used all kinds of defamatory stories against her, even saying that she is a carrier of sexual diseases to discredit her.

Mihrigul Tursun, along with 278 Chinese scholars from around the world, signed a statement in 2018 calling on China to close the camps and stop the persecution of Uighur Muslims, Tibetan Buddhists, and Falun Gong (also known as Falun Dafa) practitioners, who, according to testimonies also have their organs harvested for trade.
