A petition calling for the resignation of the World Health Organization Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus surpassed 1 million signatures on Friday, April 24, which puts more pressure on the WHO leader after he failed to get the CCP Virus information to the world while helping communist China cover up a global pandemic.

Ghebreyesus, an Ethiopian politician who has led the United Nations-backed health body since July 2017, has been under fire over his handling of the CCP Virus pandemic, which has killed roughly 200,000 people worldwide and sickened nearly 2.9 million as of Saturday, April 25.

According to the petition, in January Ghebreyesus declined to declare the CCP Virus outbreak as a global health emergency, though the virus was not treatable until now. The number of infected and deaths has risen more than ten times (from 800 to nearly 10,000) within only 5 days, part of which is related to Ghebreyesus underestimating the virus.

Specifically, the WHO director-general has been accused of allowing China to underreport the impact of the virus in Wuhan, according to Fox News. The allegedly lowballed numbers from China have affected other nations’ ability to adequately respond to the outbreak.

“We strongly think Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus is not fit for his role as WHO Director General,” the petition posted on the Change.org website states, calling for the immediate resignation of the official.

“A lot of us are really disappointed. We believe the WHO is supposed to be politically neutral. Without any investigation, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus solely believes on the death and infected numbers that the Chinese government provided with them,” the petition continues.

President Donald Trump on April 14 decided to suspend U.S. funding for the WHO, saying, “One of the most dangerous and costly decisions from the WHO was its disastrous decision to oppose travel restrictions from China and other nations” that he imposed early on in the outbreak.

The president said his administration would conduct a review to assess the WHO’s role in severely mismanaging and covering up the spread of the virus, which has caused “so much death.”

President Trump said the health organization “must be held accountable” by ignoring “credible information” in December 2019 that the CCP Virus could be transmitted from human to human.
