A woman who stabbed a 3-year-old boy in the face in front of his parents as they were walking down the street was arrested in Georgia on Wednesday, Aug. 28, the Daily Mail reported.
The 51-year-old woman was filmed on Pekini Street in Tbilisi, Georgia, walking past the parents with their two little children on Tuesday evening, Aug. 27.
Security footage showed the little boy walking hand-in-hand with his mother, while his sibling and father walked together beside them.
The woman in a black shirt approached the little boy and suddenly pulled out a knife and stabbed him twice in the face before his parents even had the opportunity to react, the video showed.
The woman continued to walk away, then abruptly pivoted and went after their second child.
The father managed to pull the little girl out of her reach as the mother shoved her away with the hand that wasn’t gripping her injured son.
He ran at the woman but backs away when she slashed the blade in his direction.
The boy’s parents said they had never seen the woman before, and police have not released a motive for the attack.
The woman is charged with intentional infliction of grave injury to the health of a minor and faces a 7-to-10-year prison sentence if convicted.
The little boy was rushed to a local hospital with “moderately severe” cuts to his cheek and nose. He was discharged from Zhvania Clinic on Thursday, Aug. 29, maxillofacial surgeon Natia Vasadze told the Georgian Journal.
“The patient had fairly deep wounds in the area of the nose and right cheek,” Vasadze said. “We provided initial surgical care to the patient and then stitched the wound. Currently, the health condition has improved and he will be discharged.”
