May 13 is a very special day, it is the birthday of Mr. Li Hongzhi the founder of Falun Dafa (also known as Falun Gong) and also the day he introduced his teachings, rooted in ancient Chinese spiritual traditions, to the general public. And this auspicious day has also been proclaimed World Falun Dafa Day.
The book “Zhuan Falun” is the published teachings of Mr. Li, with the teachings translated into 40 languages, available on the internet for download free of charge. The practice comprises of two main components, that of self-improvement, through applying Master LI’s teachings, combined with gentle exercises and meditation. Practitioners aspire to become better people and attain spiritual growth by living by the principles taught in the practice—truthfulness, compassion, and tolerance.
It has become a life-changing practice for thousands, and spiritual growth is attained by letting go of unhealthy attachments while aspiring to live life according to truthfulness, compassion, and tolerance. Those who take up the practice have reported many health improvements, sometimes very dramatic. A feeling of wellbeing, mental clarity, and stress relief are normal occurrences. Many people experience newfound energy never felt before after learning the practice.
Jiang’s hands are stained with the blood of innocent people
As the practice gained in popularity in China, the leader of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) at the time, Jiang Zemin, became very uncomfortable with the number of citizens following Falun Dafa, as the sheer number outweighed those of the CCP as the estimated number of Chinese that had taken up the practice was between 80 million and 100 million.
Being an atheist cult, the CCP followed Marxist materialism and abhorred the idea of the ancient Chinese spiritual traditional teachings, and Jiang in a jealous rage ordered the eradication of Falun Dafa. People were forbidden from possessing any Falun Dafa material and were not permitted to do the exercises or even speak to others about the practice. To go against the party would mean instant detainment, torture, and even death.
The persecution of Falun Dafa began on July 20, 1999. Many thousands were led to their death, as once having obtained such precious teachings that often brought miraculous health benefits, people became very reluctant to give it up.
Falun Dafa practitioners around the world hold events every year to commemorate the lives of those who have died as a result of the persecution in China.
Despite the ongoing persecution, which persists even to this day, Falun Dafa has spread around the world and is enjoyed by hundreds of thousands outside of China. It is believed millions still practice inside China, in the protection of their own homes. The exercises can be learned by watching Master Li demonstrate them here. The evil Communist Party knows no bounds
Falun Dafa adherents have consistently responded to the CCP’s propaganda, arbitrary detention, torture, organ harvesting, and killing with compassion and dignity. This stemmed from a perhaps naive belief the Chinese regime had misunderstood the peaceful practice that aims to improve the mind, body, and spirit through becoming a more truthful, compassionate, and tolerant member of society.
In Mainland China, the group delivered up to 10 million signatures to the country’s petition authorities that were set up to address official grievances and provide settlement under Chinese law. Human Rights Watch reported up to 10,000 individual petitioners could be seen quietly lining the streets of Beijing in an orderly fashion, especially on April 25, 1999, outside the Zhongnanhai central headquarters of the CCP. The gathering ended peacefully and without incident after a prompt meeting with then-Premier Zhu Rongji who promised to raise these concerns with the CCP.
However, the CCP was clearly not interested in hearing Falun Dafa’s concerns, and, three months later on July 20, Chinese dictator Jiang Zemin overruled his politburo committee to unlawfully ban all Falun Dafa activities. Authorities began arbitrarily arresting adherents, confiscating and destroying more than 2 million Falun Dafa books, and ordering state-run media to publish hundreds of articles that defamed the practice. This prompted many to unfurl banners and plea Falun Dafa is innocent in front of foreign journalists on Tiananmen Square.
Since 2006 a variety of independent reports, more notably by human rights lawyer David Matas and former Canadian MP David Kilgour, have revealed the CCP conducted mass organ harvesting for profit against Falun Dafa adherents and other persecuted groups at state-run hospitals, military institutions, and medical universities since the year 2000.
A 2020 independent tribunal into forced organ harvesting from prisoners of conscience in mainland China found no reason to doubt “physical acts have been carried out that are indicative of the crime of genocide.” The tribunal, which was led by Sir Geoffrey Nice who prosecuted former Serbian dictator Slobodan Milosevic for genocide, identified Falun Dafa adherents as a national, ethnical, racial, or religious group worthy of protection under the Genocide Convention.
Governments around the world have either condemned the practice or supported an end to the CCP’s arbitrary detention, torture, organ harvesting, and killing. The U.S. Congress unanimously passed House Resolution 343 in June 2016 to condemn state-sanctioned forced organ harvesting in mainland China, and demand the CCP immediately end organ harvesting of all prisoners of conscience.
The Canadian Subcommittee on International Human Rights unanimously passed a motion in November 2014 to condemn and demand an immediate end to organ transplantation from living or deceased donors without free, informed, and specific consent. It also asked the government to find ways to discourage and prevent Canadians from taking part in transplant tourism, where organs have not been obtained in an ethical, safe, and transparent fashion.
The European Parliament passed resolution TA-8-2016-0227 in May 2016 for member states to criminalize the removal and trade of human organs, bring perpetrators to justice, and strengthen sanctions against countries that allow the act.
The Australian Senate passed Motion 1212 in March 2013 to ask the federal government to support the United Nations and Council of Europe initiatives to oppose the practice of organ harvesting. The Joint Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs, Defense and Trade released a report on the inquiry into human organ trafficking and organ transplant tourism in December 2018 that recommended expressing concern to the CCP about alleged organ trafficking, and work with states and territories to make it a criminal offense to solicit or procure an organ that was removed without the donor’s consent.
At the time of publication at least 4,363 Falun Dafa adherents were confirmed persecuted to death, with “tens of thousands more [cases] to be confirmed” according to the latest data collected by the Minghui website. The CCP’s policy to cremate the deceased bodies of victims without asking permission from family members, has only added to the difficulty in ascertaining exactly how many Falun Dafa adherents were persecuted to death since 1999. Falun Dafa activities continue to be prohibited in mainland China and appear to be tolerated to varying degrees in different jurisdictions like Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Macau.
The CCP is now in the middle of a media and geopolitical storm caused by the CCP Virus. The first known death was announced on Jan. 11, 2020, and just 12 days later the entire city of Wuhan was shut down by authorities. Falun Dafa adherents will remember Jan. 23 as the same day the 2001 self-immolation hoax happened on Tiananmen Square. After analyzing surveillance footage that Chinese state-run media supplied, the United Nations International Education Department, a nonprofit confirmed the video of five people burning was staged by the CCP to slander Falun Dafa.
After spending more than two decades concealing data about the persecution of Falun Dafa, the CCP is now accused of hiding important statistics about the number of CCP Virus infections and deaths. So far it has only admitted to 82,920 people being infected and 4,630 deaths even though other countries with much smaller populations have reported much higher counts according to the Worldometer website.
Australia has joined the U.S. government’s request for an independent inquiry into exactly how the CCP Virus began. Possible theories include either infected meat sold at the Huanan Seafood Wholesale Market or that the disease was created in a research laboratory at the Wuhan Institute of Virology before spreading. Globally more than 4.3 million people have been infected and 293,500 died according to the Worldometer website.
Falun Dafa adherents have tried not to focus on how the virus started, rather indicated it came from the CCP, should be called the CCP Virus, and anyone who hopes to be free from the disease should renounce the CCP.
