A panel of experts and lawyers from the China Tribunal in London has concluded that China has in fact been murdering Falun Gong practitioners and harvesting their organs for transplant. The tribunal said on June 17, they had clear evidence and welcomed further investigations into a potential genocide.
Since March of 2006, it has been reported in independent media that China has been harvesting the organs from living Falun Gong practitioners for transplant. However, it has largely fallen on deaf ears, and various organizations have taken responsibility for educating the public about China’s crimes, urging people not to go to China for organ transplants.
Meanwhile, China Tribunal members said they have heard clear evidence forced organ harvesting has taken place over at least 20 years. The tribunal is an independent panel set up by a campaign group to examine the issue, Reuters reported.
The Tribunal declared the British government ignored continued organ harvesting in China to avoid acknowledging “an inconvenient truth.”
The Independent Tribunal Into Forced Organ Harvesting of Prisoners of Conscience in China, known as the China Tribunal, heard evidence from medical experts, human rights investigators, and alleged victims over a six-month period, reported the Telegraph UK.
Atrocities against humanity
Reports say the victims have had their bodies cut open—some while still alive—for their kidneys, livers, hearts, lungs, corneas, and skin to be removed and turned into items for sale on the transplant market in China. A market that has bragged to potential clients they can procure a viable matching donor organ within a few weeks, and sometimes days, according to Doctors Against Forced Organ Harvesting (DAFOH).
DAFOH has reported over the years how China’s organ donation program is a coverup for unethical organ harvesting for transplants, with research from the World Organization to Investigate the Persecution of Falun Gong (WOIPFG) that made phone calls to 16 top transplant surgeons from 12 transplant hospitals in China, pretending to be a high official inquiring about a liver transplant for a relative in need.
When researchers asked Chinese doctors questions like, “How fast can the transplant operation take place? Will the liver be of good quality?” [They have recorded the conversations and have them on file.]
Chinese doctors in response, sometimes described ” a flourishing transplant industry with wait times of just 1 to 2 weeks or guaranteed, high-quality organs with short warm and cold ischemic times,” which is in reference to how long the organ will be outside of a body between being harvested and transplanted.”
For the first time, the tribunal concluded China is a “criminal state,” which “beyond reasonable doubt” has committed crimes against humanity, acts of torture, and that anyone it calls an enemy of the state continues to be medically tested and killed for their organs.
Dr. Enver Tohti, a 57-year-old who used to work as a surgeon in Urumqi in northwest China in 1995 gave a harrowing testimony. He said he was asked by his bosses, “Do you want to do something wild?”
As a young doctor, he said yes, and the next day was taken to the Western Mountain Execution Grounds where there were 15 bodies lying on the mountainside. All of them had been shot in the head.
He said he was ordered to “cut deep and work fast” on one dying person whom he claimed had not been anesthetized, but was shot in the head and chest.
“I started cutting down the middle and then he started struggling and I knew then that he was still alive,” the father of three told The Telegraph UK, “but he was too weak to resist me.”
“I saw there was blood coming out of the cut which means the heart is still pumping,” he added. He was ordered to remove the liver and both kidneys, sew the body back up, and “remember that today nothing happened.”
Tohti said he now works as an Uber driver in the UK, and has flashbacks and nightmares since then, and has dedicated his life to campaigning to let others know.
The tribunal found that Falun Gong practitioners were “certainly” among those used for forced organ harvesting since at least 1999. That was when over 10,000 practitioners had peacefully demonstrated in Beijing, and a crackdown on Falun Gong was ordered shortly after by China’s former regime leader Jiang Zemin.
