A recently released intelligence report from the Trump administration is supporting the theory that COVID-19 is a man-made one. This seems to push the Biden administration to continue an investigation into the origin of the pandemic, and a decision that caught the attention of Facebook.

Three researchers from the Wuhan Institute of Virology, China, were so sick that they were hospitalized in November 2019, the time when COVID-19 cases are believed to have started to emerge, according to the intelligence report.

Specifically, the researchers were ill “with symptoms consistent with both COVID-19 and common seasonal illness.”

Fox Business reported that current and former officials with knowledge of the lab researchers’ intelligence have expressed varied opinions on the strength of the supporting evidence for the assessment. It was provided by an overseas partner, according to one source, and was potentially substantial, but needed further research and confirmation.

The intelligence was described as “stronger” by another person. Referring to the researchers, he remarked that the information taken from multiple sources was of exceptional quality. It was quite accurate. “What it didn’t tell you was why they became sick in the first place.”

The Chinese communist government has repeatedly denied that COVID-19 was leaked out from the Wuhan Institute of Virology. Beijing authorities insisted that the reported case was on December 8, 2019.

The Wuhan Institute has not released any raw data, safety logs, or lab documents from its significant research on coronaviruses in bats, which experts believe is the virus’s most likely source. Meanwhile, Beijing maintains that COVID-19 is not a man-made virus.

In March of this year, the WHO released a report on the origins of COVID-19 that was co-authored by Chinese scientists, stating that the chances of it starting in a lab were “very low.” However, doubts remain unresolved.

The U.S. Secretary of Health and Human Services, Xavier Becerra, on Tuesday, May 25, encouraged the World Health Organization to conduct a “transparent” examination into COVID-19’s origins in the next round of the investigation.

Speaking at a WHO ministerial conference, Becerra said that foreign experts should be authorized to assess coronavirus origins.

According to BBC, Becerra said in an address to the WHO-organized World Health Assembly conference that, “The COVID-19 pandemic not only stole a year from our lives, it stole millions of lives.”

“Phase 2 of the COVID origins study must be launched with terms of reference that are transparent, science-based and give international experts the independence to fully assess the source of the virus and the early days of the outbreak,” he continued.

The White House said on Tuesday that it expects the WHO to conduct an expert-led investigation into the pandemic’s origins that is devoid of political intervention.

In a statement on Wednesday, May 26, President Biden stated that after assuming office, he requested a report on the origins of COVID-19, “including whether it emerged from human contact with an infected animal or from a laboratory accident,” BBC reported.

Facebook has lifted its months-old prohibition on posts that claim the coronavirus was developed by humans, as some experts think the virus’s origins are still unknown. According to a Forbes report on Wednesday, the hypothesis that it escaped from a research lab is unproven.

“We’re continuing to work with health experts to keep pace with the evolving nature of the pandemic and regularly update our policies as new facts and trends emerge,” Facebook announced on its website.
