On Sept. 17, the first day of the Global Summit on Combating and Preventing Forced Organ Harvesting, a group of eight physicians from Europe, Asia, and North America reported on the compelling allegations of illegal organ harvesting under China’s communist regime, which persists to this day.

The health professionals detailed the extreme brutality suffered by victims of forced organ harvesting by the Chinese Communist regime and also made recommendations on how to stop and prevent such atrocities, as reported by the Minhui.org website.

Professor Li Huige, professor of pharmacology at the Mainz University Medical Center in Germany and one of the eight doctors who spoke on the first day of the event, described four types of organ harvesting based on testimonies and publications of witnesses who managed to escape from the Chinese Communist Party (CCP)-dominated regime.

The first two types refer to death row prisoners and the following two types include prisoners of conscience and political prisoners.

Li Huige also pointed out that as required by international standards, Chinese doctors in charge of the removal cite ‘brain death’ as the previous state of the person from whom the organs are to be removed.

However, the testimonies cited by the health care professional claim that these four types of victims are usually alive at the time of harvesting and only perish as a result of the brutal intervention.

David Beyda, chairman and professor of the Department of Bioethics and Medical Humanism at the University of Arizona, another of the eight speakers, stated that “people are imprisoned as merchandise to supply organs, instead of being treated as human beings.” In other words, he indicated that the surgeons who perform the transplants are actually murdering them.

Since that time, Beyda reported, the number of transplants reported by the CCP has declined considerably, but witnesses testified that there has been an exponential and steady increase in organ transplant hospitals and the number of beds occupied for this purpose.

According to the allegation presented in a report called “Bloody Harvest,” beginning in 2000, despite having no organ donation system, the number of organ transplants inexplicably skyrocketed in mainland China.

According to estimates by the authors of the “Bloody Harvest” report, in its ‘heyday’ China came to perform around 100,000 transplants of vital organs such as corneas, livers, hearts, lungs, kidneys, etc.

The demand for transplants became such that hospitals and facilities were built for this purpose with capacities of up to 1000 transplant beds.

According to the Minghui.org website, practitioners of the Falun Dafa spiritual discipline in China, who number approximately 100 million adherents, have been the main victims of the crime of organ harvesting since 1999 when former CCP leader Jiang Zemin ordered the entire state apparatus to “defame their reputation, financially ruin them and physically destroy them.”

Doctors Against Forced Organ Harvesting (DAFOH), a non-governmental medical ethics organization, has called on the United Nations General Assembly to condemn the CCP for its practice of forced organ harvesting.

DAFOH said it believes the United Nations has failed to take the initiative to stop these crimes against humanity after more than two decades of forced organ harvesting from prisoners of conscience, mainly Falun Gong practitioners.

“The failure of the United Nations to address and thoroughly investigate the forced organ harvesting from living people in China is an unacceptable omission that needs to be resolved,” said DAFOH executive director Dr. Torsten Trey.
