Shortly after takeoff from Imam Khomeini Airport in Tehran early Wednesday local time, a Boeing 737 aircraft carrying 176 passengers and crew crashed, Iran’s semi-official news agency ISNA stated.

All 176 people on board were killed, Iran’s Red Crescent said.

Rescue teams were sent to an area near the airport where the Ukrainian-owned Boeing 737 crashed, Reza Jafarzadeh, a spokesman for Iran’s Civil Aviation Organization, told state television.

The plane that crashed was on Flight PS 752, according to the air tracking service FlightRadar24.

Flight-tracking service FlightRadar 24 said the aircraft had been in service for nearly three and a half years in a tweet.
