- It’s common knowledge that Chinese media abroad is an important tool for the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) to expand its propaganda, protect its interests globally, misinform about its authoritarianism and especially hide its human rights abuses. Also, several overseas Chinese newspapers are subsidized by the communist regime in order to stay in the market.

However, rather unexpectedly, one of the pro-communist newspapers in Canada, Sing Tao Daily, which is owned by the Sing Tao Group of Hong Kong, announced that it will close its Toronto and Vancouver offices on August 28. The decision will leave 83 people unemployed.
