A Texas woman has been arrested after throwing a bowl of spicy soup in the face of a restaurant manager.

Amanda Martinez, 31, was arrested and charged with a Class A misdemeanor and assault causing bodily injury in the shocking videotaped attack at the Sol De Jalisco Mexican restaurant in Temple on Nov. 7, KWTX-TV reported. The video went viral online.

The incident happened at the restaurant at 4201 S. General Bruce Dr. around 1:21 p.m.

According to The New York Post, Martinez had picked up an order at the Mexican restaurant but was angry when she returned to complain that her soup was so hot that it melted the top of the plastic lid.

Jannelle Broland, the restaurant’s manager, apologized to the unsatisfied customer and offered a refund or another menu item.

Martinez was not appeased and requested to speak with another manager before finally throwing the spicy soup in the face of Broland.

“She then proceeded to throw the soup at the victim and left before officers arrived,” police said.

Martinez was reportedly arrested and sent to Bell County Jail on Wednesday morning, Nov. 17.

“We do not condone this type of behavior and hold our citizens to the highest standard,” Temple Deputy Police Chief Allen Teston told the station. “If a citizen believes they have received poor service we advise them to remain civil until the problem is resolved.”

She has also been banned from the restaurant.
