During Discovery’s Shark Week, Jackass star Sean McInerney, who goes by the stage name Poopies, experienced a terrifying shark attack after a wakeboarding jump over infested seas goes wrong, and he fails to stick the landing.

After surviving a slew of antics during their Discovery special on Sunday, July 11, Jackass members Steve-O and Chris Pontius opted to wakeboard through shark-infested waters with one of their newest members, McInerney.

Following a successful first run, they decided to ‘jump the shark,’ sending McInerney off a ramp.

According to new footage published during Shark Week, the stunt man wakeboards off a jump right in the middle of all the sharks. Unfortunately for him, he didn’t make the landing and slammed into all those predators, who didn’t waste any time nipping at him for some food.

A Caribbean reef shark bit McInerney on the arm and hand as crew members raced to rescue him.

Steve-O, or Stephen Glover, revealed in an interview with Steve WillDoIt that McInerney’s injury was far worse than the special makes it appear and that he was lucky to be alive.

He stated McInerney’s hand had been damaged in the attack and that tendons and two arteries in his hand needed to be reattached.

“He would be dead if they didn’t dive on him as fast as they did. Jesus, he got wrecked by a shark! For a Shark Week episode!”

Chris added: “It’s a reminder that, yeah, like, we are pushing it pretty hard. And this could happen, of course. It’s either, like, everything’s okay or this happens. And hopefully it’s always everything’s okay, everything’s okay. But then… you know, this time it’s not okay.”

McInerney seemed happy about the experience afterward, despite his arm being in a cast.

“I definitely got a degree in shark college there,” he said. “I knew there was a chance I was going to get bit by a shark, but I didn’t think it was going to happen.”

Even though the attack has left him with a terrible scar, he had no bad feelings for the creatures, saying, “I don’t blame the sharks at all. I mean, I was in their living room, and it was dinnertime.”
