The New York Supreme Court suspended the license of attorney and former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani after accusing him of making “false and misleading statements” associated with voter fraud during the November 2020 U.S. presidential election.

The appeals court ruling said there was “uncontroverted evidence,” and that Giuliani made false statements while acting as legal counsel to former President Donald Trump.

“These false statements were made to improperly bolster respondent’s narrative that due to widespread voter fraud, victory in the 2020 United States presidential election was stolen from his client,” the ruling states.

Giuliani served as Trump’s attorney and spearheaded a legal effort following the contentious Nov. 3 election. Abundant evidence determined that Trump was fraudulently denied victory in several battleground states, including Nevada, Wisconsin, Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Georgia.

His role as a legal advisor in the fight against corruption and democracy gained him many enemies, who today are leading the mission to see him lose his right to practice his profession in New York, one of the most important states in the United States.

The Lawyers’ Grievance Committee of the First Judicial Department requested Giuliani’s suspension, a body that includes Manhattan. The court order released Thursday noted that the court granted the committee’s request and that Giuliani’s suspension is temporary and depends on the outcome of a full formal hearing to be held soon.

Speaking to The NY Post, Giuliani compared the Court’s decision to what happened under Soviet communism. He warned that it is a total invasion of his First Amendment rights and his rights as a lawyer.

In his statements, he denounced that the maneuver is not simply a judicial resolution but a political action with clear interests. Giuliani emphasized that this is an attempt to prevent Trump from having a defense attorney.

Giuliani distinguished himself in his professional career as a lawyer and prosecutor in New York before running for mayor as a Republican in the 1990s through the early 2000s.

The persecution against Giuliani is not new, in fact, as part of a truly unprecedented witch hunt on former President Donald Trump’s collaborators, on April 28 with a search warrant, the FBI entered Giuliani’s apartment and confiscated several of his electronic devices within an alleged investigation between him, Trump and Ukrainian officials.

According to the prestigious lawyer the raid was completely unnecessary because he offered for two years to provide federal prosecutors with his electronic devices and all the material necessary to investigate him.

The former mayor of New York explained that neither the Department of Justice nor the FBI has filed any charges and that they have been after him for two years. The resolution of the New York Court, is one more element to understand that the persecution against Trump’s defender is true.

Trump, upset by the authoritarian decision of the Court also issued a statement .

“Can you believe that New York wants to strip Rudy Giuliani, a great American Patriot, of his law license because he has been fighting what has already been proven to be a Fraudulent Election?” Trump said.
