A 17-year-old Virginia boy suspected of opening fire on his family for Valentine’s Day, killing his mother and 6-year-old brother and wounding his father, was arrested in North Carolina, authorities said.
Levi H. Norwood, a junior at Liberty High School, was apprehended on Saturday, Feb. 15, after store employees called police to report him as a possible shoplifter, NBC News reported.
The suspect’s father, Joshua Norwood, 37, told deputies he walked into the family’s home in Fauquier County at about 6 p.m. Friday, Feb. 14, and discovered his wife, 34, and son, 6, shot dead.
Joshua also said his son Levi fired several shots at him and injured him, before fleeing the scene and stealing a 2007 red Toyota Camry.
Investigators said, that after he escaped Joshua called 911 and was taken to an emergency room. He is now listed in stable condition.
The 17-year-old boy had been wanted for two counts of murder and was considered to be armed and dangerous.
The car that Levi stole was also recovered after he was arrested, investigators said.
