Police are asking for help to find two wanted men who are suspects, 23-year-old Molek Alcantara and 22-year-old Daquan C. Reed, in a double shooting on Monday night, Oct. 14, at MacArthur Center in Norfolk, Virginia, that left a man and a woman injured.

The shooting was reported around 8:20 p.m. and police said that they were investigating inside the mall located at 300 Monticello Ave. The mall closes at 9 p.m. during the week.

Police Chief Larry Boone said that a 23-year-old man “exchanged words” with Alcantara and Reed, then one of them fired a gun. The 23-year-old man was shot and drove himself to the hospital, while a 56-year-old woman, a bystander who was shopping, was struck in the leg and then was transported to the hospital. Both of them had nonlife-threatening wounds.

Alcantara and Reed fled the scene before police arrived.

According to Boone, multiple off-duty officers responded to the scene, The Virginia Pilot reported.

Police released a picture from a screenshot captured on security cameras of them.

“We’ve got a good understanding that these individuals were walking about the mall before the incident, so it’s not just one piece of information,” Boone said. “It’s most likely going to be several.”
