Carson King’s viral fundraiser for the University of Iowa Stead Children’s Hospital has now exceeded $1 million in donations.

The fundraiser achieved over $1 million in total contributions as of Sunday morning, with Busch Beer and Venmo matching the total donations in King’s Venmo account.

King’s fundraiser went viral after he brought a sign to a Cy-Hawk game, “Busch Light Supply Needs Replenished – Venmo – Carson-King-25,” to College GameDay.

Hundreds of dollars began flowing into his account after it was shown on television. King, a fan of the Iowa State, decided to donate all the money to the children’s hospital in Iowa City, minus enough to purchase a case of beer. The donations to his Venmo account rose exponentially after making his charitable plans known.

Both Busch Beer and Venmo pledged to match the donations they got, and $10,000 was also pledged by Prairie Meadows, King’s employer.

Busch Beer honored King, dubbing him an “Iowa Legend,” and on Busch Light cans they printed Carson King’s face. Busch Beer has even gifted King a year’s supply of Busch Light.

King’s account is going to accept money until the end of September.
