Portland, Oregon, has become the scene of increasing violence with more than 50 nights of riots and violence. Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) lashed out at Democrats on Saturday, July 18, for “facilitating and cheering” on the mayhem sparked by the death in custody of Minneapolis resident George Floyd on May 25.
Cruz compared the violence happening there to deadly clashes in Iraq and Lebanon.
Protests against systemic racism and police brutality have in themselves become nothing more than that, and senseless brutality by protesters has become the norm.
The Portland federal courthouse has become the flashpoint. “This is not Fallujah. This is not Beirut. This is America,” Cruz tweeted. “And Dem politicians are facilitating & cheering them on.”

Cruz retweeted a video purporting to show Black Lives Matter activists and antifa members attacking a federal courthouse on Friday night, July 17.
Homeland Security Secretary Chad Wolf blasted the protesters as “lawless anarchists after a tour of the city.
“A federal courthouse is a symbol of justice—to attack it is to attack America,” Wolf said in a public statement on Thursday, July 16.
“Instead of addressing violent criminals in their communities, local and state leaders are instead focusing on placing blame on law enforcement and requesting fewer officers in their community.
“Its time that we take a stand,” said Wolf, reported Fox News. Wolf defended his department’s actions on Twitter.

President Trump has condemned the chaos, and federal agents have been enlisted, including the U.S. Marshals Special Operations Group and an elite Customs and Border Protection team to help protect federal property.
“Keep your troops in your own buildings, or have them leave our city,” fumed Democrat Mayor Ted Wheeler, who has rejected Federal help, at a news conference on Friday, after an officer with the Marshals Service fired a less-lethal round at a protester’s head on July 11, critically injuring him.
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.), called for an end to the Homeland Department deployment of troops in Portland, calling them “stormtroopers.”
Unidentified stormtroopers. Unmarked cars. Kidnapping protesters and causing severe injuries in response to graffiti.
These are not the actions of a democratic republic.@DHSgov’s actions in Portland undermine its mission.
Trump & his stormtroopers must be stopped.

Cruz answered her in a tweet, “Cops are not stormtroopers. Arrests are not kidnappings. ANTIFA terrorists are not protesters,” he tweeted Saturday. “Dems are making the cynical political decision to stand with violent criminals trying to destroy America.”

Democrat Gov. Kate Brown said the Trump administration, is “not interested in problem-solving,” and this has “nothing to do with public safety.”
“If they were really interested in helping us, they would have had conversations first, and taken actions later,” Brown said. “Instead it’s ready, fire, aim.”
Violent protests in cities across America have occurred mostly in Democrat-run cities, with 18 of the top violent spots run by Democrats.
Oregon Attorney General Ellen Rosenblum also sued Homeland Security and the Marshals Service in federal court Friday night, reported Fox News.
The complaint alleges that unidentified federal agents grabbed people off Portland’s streets “without warning or explanation, without a warrant, and without providing any way to determine who is directing this action.”
