A new video that has been circulating in recent hours on social media highlights the current crisis at the southern border of the United States, which border patrol agents have been warning about for some time.

On Monday, July 19, the video was posted by Fox News correspondent Bill Melugin and showed a group of more than 300 migrants attempting to force their way into the U.S. through a gate in the Texas town of Del Rio.

The migrants, most of them Haitians, huddled near the gate as law enforcement officers from Nebraska, Texas and Florida stood guard along with the Border Patrol.

Some of the adult men defied the agents and tried to break through the gate, as seen in the video showing the tense situation.

“It’s unclear what’s going to happen with this group,” Melugin said in a tweet. “Troopers tell me Border Patrol is completely overrun and their processing centers are all over capacity & they can’t handle a group this size. Concerns the group may have to wait in the blistering heat.”

Melugin later reported that “Almost all of them ended up entering the United States.”
Mass groups like this appear daily, as seen on the reporter’s Twitter feed.

On July 20 in another tweet, Melugin reported: “Live on @FoxNews yesterday in Del Rio as large groups of single adult men were allowed to walk through the border gate into the United States & were taken into Border Patrol custody. The men told me they were from Ghana, Haiti, & Brazil. Part of a group of 400+ let in.”

Border Patrol Data

On July 16, the Border Patrol (CBP) released a report warning of the crisis at the border and that they are overwhelmed by the number of migrants arriving.

“We are in the hottest part of the summer, and we are seeing a high number of distress calls to CBP from migrants abandoned in treacherous terrain by smugglers with no regard for human life,” said CBP Acting Commissioner Troy Miller.

“Although CBP does everything it can to locate and rescue individuals who are lost or distressed, the bottom line is this: the terrain along the border is extreme, the summer heat is severe, and the miles of desert migrants must hike after crossing the border in many areas are unforgiving,” he added.

Border Patrol also warned that smuggling organizations abandon migrants in remote and dangerous areas, leading to a dramatic increase in the number of rescues CBP conducts. In the fiscal year 2021 through June, CBP made 9,500 rescues nationwide, which is 81 percent higher than the total number of rescues in all of FY 2020.

Massive immigration crisis in the Biden administration

A report filed by House Republican lawmakers claims that Joe Biden’s administration “precipitated a massive immigration crisis.”

The document, dated July 20, accessed by Fox News, states that the current administration “has ignored repeated warnings to the detriment of the security, health and rule of law” of the country.

It also notes that Biden not only reversed Donald Trump’s immigration measures but also instituted “permissive policies” that encourage migration through “non-legal” channels and means.

“While this crisis rages on in real time, Democrats have no plan—and apparently no intention—of acting to stop the Biden border crisis,” the report on the unprecedented border crisis notes.
