As the EU considers “digital green certificates” as a prospective measure to resume international traveling and ensuring the risks of COVID-19 transmission are under control, civil freedom is still debatable.

Vaccine passports have been the subject of heated discussions worldwide. Such certificates are meant to represent an individual’s immunity to coronavirus by proving their vaccinated status. A person will be allowed to attend specific business and international travel with this passport.

Governments and several officials praise the certificate’s necessity to restoring tourism, saving the economy, and still tracking COVID-19’s movement and fighting against its spread.

Others expressed concern for those not vaccinated, as they feel they may be discriminated against.

“The certificate cannot be a precondition for free movement as this is a fundamental right in the European Union, and it cannot lead to discrimination against those individuals who do not hold one. Citizens’ data must be safe, and only necessary data should be included in the certificate,” Juan Fernando López Aguilar, Chair of the Civil Liberties Committee, commented on the EU’s consideration.

If these passports become a reality, freedom could become a thing of the past.

“From an ethical point of view vaccine passports are completely unacceptable. You’re going to create a two-tier system, and history shows that when you create division within society, it leads to civil unrest. It’s vaccine apartheid,” Dr. Clare Wenham, assistant professor of global health policy at the London School of Economics, warned

On April 11, Natural News cited a CNN interview between Chris Cuomo and former Planned Parenthood president Dr. Leana Wen, pointing out from their statements that it appears that vaccine passport has been a “secret plan all along.”

In the interview, Dr. Wen praised the benefits of a vaccine passport:

“We need to make it clear to them (Americans) that the vaccine is the ticket back to pre-pandemic life, and the window to do that is really narrowing. You were mentioning about how all these states are reopening. They’re reopening at 100%.”

Then she continued with which Natural News deems suspicious remarks, letting it slip out that the government has been planing on the passport for a while.

“We have a very narrow window to tie reopening policy to vaccination status. Because otherwise, if everything is reopened, then what’s the carrot going to be? How are we going to incentivize people to actually get the vaccine?” she asked.

According to Natural News, vaccine passports have been a developing idea, often touted as just a conspiracy theory. One piece of information exposed by The Guardian is that Zühlke Engineering, a Swiss consulting company, became involved with the NHS track and trace app on December 17, 2020. The purpose of the app system was to “use vaccination status, a recent negative Covid test or proof of coronavirus antibodies to allow people into potentially packed places when the country opens up.”

It has been broadcast as a way to protect citizens’ health; however, it still carries a threat should officials decide to use it for other purposes.

“We’re not supportive of that. I think it’s something that people have certain freedoms and individual liberties to make decisions for themselves,” Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, in rejection of the passport system, proposed. “It’s completely unacceptable for either the government or the private sector to impose upon you the requirement that you show proof of vaccine just simply to be able to participate in normal society,” he added.

The Governor has promised to use his executive power in securing his state from the vaccine passport mandate if the government makes it compulsory.
