U.S. authorities closed the U.S.-Mexico border after dozens of illegal immigrants attempted to enter by force.
The assault, led by a group of Cubans according to Telemundo 51, took place on the International Bridge that connects Reynosa, Tamaulipas, with Hidalgo, Texas, at nine o’clock at night local time.
After thwarting the entry attempt, border agents closed legal access for pedestrians and vehicles and put barriers in place.
At 11 p.m. local time, immigration authorities reopened the border and allowed residents and neighbors to cross first, according to Televisa.
This is the second time in a few days that a group has attempted to enter violently. On July 1, some 200 illegal immigrants tried to cross the Paso del Norte in Ciudad Juárez, Chihuahua, with identical results.
