President Donald Trump’s immigration policy has prevented about 186,000 illegal aliens possibly infected with the CCP (Chinese Communist Party) Virus from entering the United States across the U.S.-Mexico border, preventing a wide spread of the disease, according to government statistics.
Beginning on March 21, the Trump administration issued a health law directed at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to give federal officials broad authority to return illegal aliens who might be infected with the CCP Virus.
Officials said 186,000 immigrants from 130 of the world’s 195 nations, including China and Mexico, were barred from entering the country. Forty-two of them had unknown citizenship, according to the Washington Examiner.
Border officials said special precautions taken by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) have helped keep infection numbers down in local communities.
“The president’s decision to implement CDC and HHS authorities quickly averted the profound public health and national security threat at our southwest border and will endure as one of the pivotal actions taken against the coronavirus in the United States,” said a senior Trump administration official.
“If not for this effort, tens of thousands of aliens acting as potential carriers for the coronavirus [CCP Virus] would have continued to enter law enforcement facilities near the border in congregate settings, making our southwest border a major vein for coronavirus outbreak,” he added.
As reported by Fox News, authorities said that under Title 42 they allowed the United States to avoid overcrowding at facilities that could have been lethal because of the spread of the virus.
Nearly 60,000 Mexicans were detained, as well as 12,632 people from Guatemala, and 8,000 people from Ecuador and El Salvador, officials said. Prior to the implementation of the Title 42 law, border authorities detained 98,000 immigrants from 98 countries with the CCP Virus.
From Jan. 1 to March 21, prior to the implementation of Title 42, federal immigration officials were detaining between 7,000 and 9,000 uncontrolled illegal aliens per day. This is the population equivalent of 2.5 Diamond Princess cruise ships, Breitbart News reported.
According to Mark Morgan, commissioner of U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), about 95 percent of illegal aliens are instantly deported from the United States.
“If not for the tools already put in place by the administration, including the Migrant Protection Protocols, the outlook at the southwest border would have been wholly untenable under a continuation of the crisis-level migrant flows witnessed in 2019,” Morgan said.
“The reforms put forth over the past two years means we are better prepared for the unprecedented public health challenge taking place at our border today,” the CBP official said.
