In his final days as U.S. attorney general, William Barr announced an update on the investigation conducted by United States Attorney for the District of Connecticut John Durham into the origins of the deception in Russia, exposing a group of people who worked during the Obama era and are now implicated in an attempt to “overthrow” President Donald Trump and remove him from office. The details, are for now, confidential and in Barr’s hands.

Durham is specifically authorized to investigate whether any federal official, employee, or any other person or entity violated the law in connection with intelligence, counterintelligence, or law enforcement activities directed at the 2016 presidential campaigns, contributors to those campaigns, and/or persons associated with the administration of President Donald Trump.

Barr, who resigned from the Justice Department effective Dec. 23, was the one who gave the update on the Durham investigation into the origin of the Obama-era FBI counterintelligence investigation into the Trump campaign in a recent interview.

The report states that the Justice Department was being used “as a political weapon” by a group of people, who used the lie of conspiracy with Russia in an attempt to “overthrow the Trump administration.”

Durham, who is in charge of the case, is reportedly expanding his team because of the “excellent progress” he is making in his investigation into the origins of the Trump-Russia hoax.

An adviser to Durham, who is familiar with the investigation, confirmed to Fox News that Durham is adding prosecutors to his team as his investigation moves forward.

While they announced that the investigation is moving forward by leaps and bounds, the names of all those involved and the crimes committed has not yet been revealed. The Durham will produce a “confidential report” to be submitted to the attorney general, who will then draft a final report appropriate for public dissemination.

So far, the Durham investigation has resulted in a criminal charge, against former FBI lawyer Kevin Clinesmith, who was accused of tampering with an email related to the surveillance of a former Trump campaign aide.

Durham was appointed in October by Barr to investigate the origins of the Trump-Russia case with special counsel status. This means that he has the authority to complete the job without being easily fired, regardless of a change in executive authorities.

Barr told The Associated Press that the Durham investigation is focusing on the conduct of FBI agents who worked on the Russia investigation looking to attack President Trump.

Barr is just days away from leaving office. He is at the center of criticism from conservatives and Trump supporters for his failure to cooperate on issues pertaining to election fraud, acting on the amount of evidence that proves it.

In addition, a report published on Dec. 10 by the Wall Street Journal shows that Barr was aware of the investigation into the fraudulent dealings of Hunter Biden, son of former Vice President Joe Biden for several months, but kept it hidden from the public, particularly during the election campaign.

President Trump himself wrote about it on his Twitter account, “Why didn’t the Fake News Media, the FBI and the DOJ report the Biden matter BEFORE the Election.”
