Twitter’s public policy director has left the company to join the transition team for Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden.
Carlos Monje helped to host a fundraiser for Biden earlier this week and left Twitter’s Washington, D.C. office on Thursday, Sept. 17, according to Politico.
Monje served in former President Obama’s White House and was on the transition team for former Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton before he joined Twitter in 2017, according to a LinkedIn profile cited in Politico’s article.
Monje’s switch comes amid accusations of political bias and the platform’s controversial moves ahead of the November election.
Twitter this week suspended the account of a Chinese virologist who accused the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) of covering up evidence that the deadly CCP virus (coronavirus) was manufactured in a laboratory in Wuhan—the claim has been backed by several Republican officials who have called for an investigation to hold the CCP accountable for spreading the virus.
Chinese virologist whistleblower Dr. Li-Meng Yan has her Twitter account suspended? Think about that for a moment? She escapes the CCP, comes to the USA, and receives the same censorship from TWITTER! https://t.co/V3zMvwfJxI

Twitter has fact-checked President Donald Trump’s tweets and suspended the president’s son’s account, citing violation of the platform’s rules.
However, Twitter declined to label a video posted by the Biden campaign as “manipulated media” after the Trump campaign asked the giant tech company to do so. Twitter said the clip takes President Trump’s words out of context and has been repeatedly fact-checked as incorrect manipulation, Fox News reported.
“The splicing is identical to how the Biden campaign cut a video of the Feb. 28 address in March that got four Pinocchios from the Washington Post and was panned by several other fact-checkers,” Fox News noted.

Biden also published an advertisement on Twitter that incorporated claims from an anonymously sourced Atlantic article alleging President Trump had made derogatory remarks about fallen American military service members. Twitter did not fact-check the video.
It’s worth noting that the former press secretary for Biden’s running mate, Sen. Kamala Harris (D-Calif.) now works as a senior communications manager for Twitter. Nick Pacilio, who served under Harris while she was attorney general in California, removed President Trump’s coronavirus tweet last month.
