Former President Donald Trump said he is repairing his iconic private plane in preparation for upcoming rallies.
Trump’s Boeing 757, nicknamed “Trump Force One,” has been used by the former president for many rallies during his 2016 presidential campaign. He said the plane should be back in full working service by the end of 2021, Washington Examiner reported.
“It is now being fully restored and updated and will be put back into service sometime prior to the end of the year,” Trump said in a statement on Friday, May 21
The aircraft, which is currently in storage in upstate New York, will be taken to a Louisiana service facility for an inspection, upgrading engines, and a new paint job, the former president, announced.
“When completed, it will be better than ever, and again used at upcoming rallies!” Trump added in the statement.
Trump’s plane features cream-colored leather seats, gilded bathrooms, gold-layered seat buckles, and fabrics from Paris.
CNN previously reported in March that one of the plane’s expensive Rolls Royce RB211 Turbofan engines was broken and had been removed from the aircraft pending repairs, which could cost hundreds of thousands of dollars.
While in the White House, Trump avoided using his plane and instead flew on Boeing VC-25s nicknamed “Air Force One” while he was on board, Business Insider reported.
In an interview with One America News Network on Thursday, May 20, Trump announced that he would hold campaign-style rallies in Florida, Ohio, Georgia, and North Carolina in the coming weeks. He has not said if he intends to run for president again. Instead, he will decide after the 2022 midterm elections.
