TobyMac’s eldest son, Truett Foster McKeehan, a Christian rapper is known by his stage names Shiloh, truDog, and TRU, died suddenly at his Tennessee home at the age of 21.

McKeehan died at his home in the Nashville area either Tuesday night or Wednesday morning, Oct. 23, a representative for TobyMac confirmed in a statement to Entertainment Tonight.

The cause of death is not yet known, but Davidson County Medical Examiner’s office confirmed he died Wednesday, Oct. 23, 2019, after medics responded to a cardiac arrest call at the family’s home.

TobyMac left Canada, where he was scheduled to be on tour for a week, to be with his family at their home in Franklin, Tennessee.

During the past few years, McKeehan released songs and videos online under his various stage names. He was not a Christian artist but he joined forces with his father on several tracks.

TobyMac praised his son’s musical talents, calling him a true artist.

“He expressed himself through the music he made. And by made I mean, written, recorded, produced, mixed, and designed the art. All of it. A true artist,” the rapper added, before reflecting on his son’s first show a week ago, which was “nothing short of electric.”

TobyMac even penned a song titled “Scars,” describing how his relationship with McKeehan changed after he left home.

“Now you won’t take my phone calls, / You won’t text me back at all, / I just wanna see you, / I can’t stand to see you gone,” the lyrics of the song read.
