Anthony Barajas and his girlfriend died from a fatal shooting in southern California on July 31.

The TikTok celebrity and his beloved suffered a gunshot wound to the head during the July 26 “Forever Purge” screening in Corona, 53 miles east of downtown Los Angeles.

The 19-year-old was on his first date with Rylee Goodrich, 18, and the Regal Edwards Theater was nearly empty at the time of the attack. Nobody noticed the couple was missing until after the film had ended according to the Daily Mail.

The film plot explores what would happen, if homicide and other violent acts were legalized for one day of the year. The film is the fifth instalment in the horror film series.

Corona Police Department detained suspected shooter Joseph Jimenez for homicide and other offenses on July 27. Police officers also confiscated a firearm that matches the size used in the shooting, and discovered Goodrich’s wallet and other belongings at Jimenez’s home.

BL understands the 20-year-old has a special circumstance that could qualify him for the death sentence, if convicted. Bail has been set at $2 million according to USA Today.

Riverside County prosecutor Mike Hestrin strangely found no link between Jimenez and his victims. It is also unclear whether robbery was the primary motivation.

“Based on the evidence provided to our office, this appears to be a random and unprovoked attack,” he said according to the paper.

Barajas was an honor student who excelled in soccer and singing. He finished Mater Dei High School in 2019.

“Anthony was wheeled down an ‘honor walk’ where he would ultimately donate his organs so others may live,” grieving friend Malik Earnest said on Twitter. “[Thank you to everyone who] lifted Anthony in prayer.”

Jimenez told officers he heard voices, and tried to plead innocent on insanity grounds according to the publication. However, BL understands his chances of success are slim given he stole one of his victim’s wallet, suggesting he knew what he was doing.

Goodrich met Bajaras at a party during the Fourth of July weekend, and was delighted to start dating him according to father David. She did not enjoy the movie and made this clear moments before she died.

“She texted my wife how boring and stupid it was, how she did not like the movie,” he said according to the Daily Mail. “That was the last we heard from her, it had to be right then.”

Investigators are examining whether the contents of the movie might have motivated Jimenez to open fire on the couple.
