Three children who went missing from Saline County, Missouri, in 2017 have been found safe in Texas on Thursday, Oct. 17.
U.S. Marshals and local task force officers from the Northern District of Texas found the three missing children, Daniel, David, and Ariana Olivera at a home in Arlington, Texas with their mother Shawn Rodriguez, 42, after a lengthy investigation, according to reports. Rodriguez was taken into custody and is expected to be extradited back to Missouri.
Authorities allege that Rodriguez took her three young children, who were all under the age of 8, and fled Saline County in August 2017.
Earlier this year, the father of the children was given full custody. A warrant was issued for Shawn Rodriguez’s arrest for parental kidnapping on Aug. 6.
The Saline County Sheriff’s Office asked for help from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC), and the U.S. Marshal in the Western District of Missouri became involved the case, according to KCTV.
Deputy marshals then began running down leads and seeking information about where the children were. By October, investigators came to believe that Rodriguez might have been hiding in the Dallas-Fort Worth, Texas area.
The children were under the care of the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services until they can be reunited with their father.
