The scandal over the transgender swimmer who continues to break all records in women’s competitions is at a fever pitch after a career official of Olympic swimming’s governing body resigned in protest over the competitive disparity, declaring that trans swimmer Lia Thomas is “going to be destroying women’s swimming.” As Breitbart reports, the liberal media is intentionally ignoring the issue.
USA Swimming official Cynthia Millen retired last week after running competitive events at that body for 30 years saying she “could no longer participate in a sport that allows biological men to compete against women.”
“The fact is that swimming is a sport in which bodies compete against bodies. Identities do not compete against identities,” Millen stated on “Tucker Carlson Tonight,” as reported by Fox News.
The controversy started when Thomas, after competing for three years on the University of Pennsylvania men’s swim team as Will Thomas, in 2019 came out as transgender and switched to the women’s swim team
Since that time he is taking all the records away from the female swimmers, so he started a wave of criticism, both from people inside the circle of swimming competitions and outside.
“Men are different from women, men swimmers are different from women, and they will always be faster than women,” Millen explained to Fox, asserting that Thomas is “going to be destroying women’s swimming.”
“Boys will always have larger lung capacity, larger hearts, greater circulation, a bigger skeleton, and less fat,” he added. “Girls go through puberty and they have a double whammy, they not only grow breasts and hips, but they have periods, and they often have a totally different sense of gravity and have to learn to swim over again.”
“USA swimming recognizes that boys swim differently from girls,” the former official said, adding that “no matter how much testosterone suppression drugs he takes, he will always be a biological male and have the advantage.”
Millen said it would be a “travesty to get rid” of the hard work, talent and legacy of Olympic swimmers such as Janet Evans and Jenny Thompson, but “this is what will happen,” she predicted.
Recently, during a competition with Cornell and Princeton universities held on Nov. 20, Thomas ‘swept’ the leaderboards and generated new record scores in the 200-meter freestyle and 500-meter freestyle that surpassed even almost any swimmer in the U.S. She was even a key part of her team’s success in the 400 free relay, where they earned the best marks for the University of Pennsylvania.
Yet, even as the issue became increasingly heated, the progressive media kept it under the rug.
“With a [scandal] story like this, they’re getting a lot of pressure from [gender] activists not to talk about it at all because it’s so obvious [that] … in other circumstances, this would be seen as cheating,” said Natasha Chart, an activist and critic of gender ideology, adding, “It is just something you almost can’t talk about without making the truth obvious that they put a man in a women’s competition,” she said, according to Breitbart.
