Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden was mocked on social media on Friday, Oct. 9, after a video went viral showing him lowering his face mask to cough into his hand.

Biden was speaking to an audience during a campaign stop in Las Vegas, Nevada. The video shows Biden wearing his face mask incorrectly, and at one point, he pulled down the mask to cough into his hand.

Biden has repeatedly called for a national mask mandate to stop the spread of the CCP Virus (coronavirus). He even said President Donald Trump bears responsibility for becoming infected with the virus due to his refusal to wear a mask.

“Look, anybody who contracts the virus by essentially saying, ‘masks don’t matter, social distancing doesn’t matter’—I think is responsible for what happens to them,” Biden said during an NBC News town hall.

“They’re taking responsibility that, in fact, they should be held responsible for, because every major scientist and doctor and immunologist has said that’s a very dangerous thing to do,” Biden said. “The particles and droplets can stay in the air for a long time, longer than they thought.”

President Trump has said he wore a mask when needed, but “I don’t wear masks like him [Biden]. Every time you see him, he’s got a mask,” reported CNBC.

Biden was chastised by critics on social media who accused him of hypocrisy.

“You can’t make this up. Joe Biden just removed his mask to cough in his hand. Talk about unsanitary!” GOP rapid response director Steve Guest said in reaction.

“Joe, the mask is supposed to stop the droplets coming out of your mouth and lungs,” a Twitter user said. “You should double up.”

“Wait, either he & his disciples ‘believe in science,’ or they don’t. The advice for coughs has been without equivocation: cough into a tissue (and discard), or cough into your elbow. How is this acceptable? Or is this more ‘rules for thee, but not for me’ from the ruling class?” another wrote.

“Joe Biden constantly touches his mask and negates any possible benefit of wearing it. He also pulls his mask down to cough into his hand,” one person noted. “Is this ‘following the science?'”
