The recent scandal involving Meena Harris, a niece of Vice President Kamala Harris, highlights how much relatives of leaders can negatively affect a country’s policies.

In this case, the risk is that Meena Harris, 36, will obstruct good relations between her country and India, the world’s second-most populous country, as reported in the Feb. 10 Washington Examiner.

In her political activism against India’s agricultural policies, Harris wrote about the rise of “FASCIST DICTATORS,” in an allusion to the Indian government. She also said it is “endangering the world’s largest democracy.”

Harris’ interventions run counter to those of the State Department, which supports Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

A Department official said, “In general, the United States welcomes steps that would improve the efficiency of India’s markets and attract greater private sector investment.”

Harris has also been accused of taking commercial advantage of her aunt Kamala’s position to boost sales of her products, including a couple of books in which she mentions her.

On the other hand, President Biden’s brothers Jim and Frank, and the president’s son Hunter Biden and his son-in-law Howard Krein are accused of receiving income derived from their proximity to Joe Biden during his eight-year term as vice-president to former President Obama.

Although the Biden administration assures that it will not allow the president’s relatives to have relationships that involve influence peddling, it had to admit that Hunter “has been working to undo his investment” in a Chinese company.

Hunter Biden continues to hold a 10% stake in Chinese private equity firm BHR Partners, Chinese business records show, despite multiple reports in December suggesting he had sold his position in the company.

Also, revelations made in October by the New York Post show that the Biden family has received billions of dollars in income from influence peddling and selling opportunities to wealthy foreigners to network with the circle of powerful influencers in U.S. politics.

It was only in December that Hunter Biden was notified of a federal investigation against him, uncovering his suspicious financial activity involving money from China and other countries, Fox News said.

From the identification code given by the FBI to the case, some implications are deduced, among them money laundering, and an unknown, transnational white-collar crime, Fox News reported
