A woman fired two shots into a suspected robber when he attempted to steal her purse as she arrived at her apartment in the middle of the night.

It happened around 2:30 a.m. Tuesday at The Reserve at Braes Forest located in the 8000 block of Creekbend Drive in southwest Houston.

Police said the woman had just parked her vehicle outside her home when two men approached her vehicle and one of them reached into her passenger side window and grabbed her purse. Before they could take it, the woman was able to pull out a handgun.

Police said the woman fired two shots. The suspect and the other men fled as she fired her gun.

But just a short time later, officers received a call about a man who was found with a gunshot wound on the other side of the complex about 100 yards away.

The suspect was transported to the hospital and is expected to survive. He faces aggravated robbery charges.
