The two children found drowned Thursday night, Aug. 15, in a small pond near Conroe and Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the cause.

Authorities said they responded to a call about a missing child around 6 p.m. on Wigginsville Road near Dewberry Lane.

When they arrived, a paramedic found two of the three children in the pond and immediately began CPR.

Despite efforts, they could not be revived.

A third child who was able to swim back to dry land was taken to Texas Children’s Hospital for treatment in stable condition.

“The crews out here treated this scene like it was their own family,” Chief Raymond Flannelly said. “They worked on those boys for at least 45 minutes.”

The sheriff’s office says two drowned children were 3 years old and 4 years old.

Authorities are still working to determine how the children were able to get to the pond.
