A 15-year-old from Waller High School in Texas died after he was hit by car outside the school Thursday morning, Sept. 5.
According to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office, the boy was hit while crossing Field Store Road around 7:24 a.m. The boy had been dropped off by the school bus, and he was walking away from the school on the east side of the roadway.
Deputies said the student was rushed to Memorial Hermann Hospital in critical condition but was pronounced dead a short time after arriving.
The driver, who was reportedly driving less than the speed limit at the time of the crash, stayed at the scene.
Authorities said no students witnessed the accident. Counselors are on hand for any students or staff who need assistance.
Deputies said the driver is not expected to face charges.
