A 9-year-old boy is safe after he was kidnapped and almost trafficked to another city on Wednesday, San Antonio police said.

Police said the boy was kidnapped from downtown San Antonio, Texas. Local authorities along with Homeland Security were immediately alerted, triggering a search.

Police spent the entire night tracking down the child until he was located inside a car at an H-E-B local grocery store on the South Side off Goliad Road and Southeast Military Drive around 12:30 a.m. Wednesday.

SAPD officers were able to block in the suspect’s car in the parking lot and recovered the boy. He was not seriously hurt, police report.

The suspect, who was trying to sell the boy in Laredo or Eagle Pass, was placed under arrest.

Authorities said that the charges are kidnapping and human trafficking, WOAI-TV reported.
