A 21-year-old Pasadena, Texas man is facing murder charges after authorities said he stabbed his pregnant wife to death late Saturday afternoon, Aug. 3.

Reports say Alex Guajardo admitted to stabbing his wife Caitlynne Guajardo, 20, in the stomach because he didn’t want another man to raise his child.

Court documents say he was arrested for family violence against his wife on Wednesday, July 31, and was not supposed to be near her due to a protective order.

He was later released after posting bond and returned Saturday to their Pasadena apartment in the 1900 block of Southmore Avenue.

Reports said Guajardo called 911 about 4 p.m. after the stabbing and waited at the scene until police officers arrived.

Caitlynne was found inside the apartment with at least 20 stab wounds, including several to her abdomen and one to her throat, according to police.

After medics attempted CPR at the scene, Caitlynne was taken to an area hospital where she died.

According to neighbors, Guajardo also killed his wife’s cat that day.

“He stabbed something, put it in a dumpster and that’s when the police came. She [Caitlynne Guajardo] called them and they went in the dumpster and pulled out a bag. She called them and I think that’s what escalated to this,” said neighbor Rineo Cavillo.
