A new Texas bill authored by Rep. Charles Perry (R-Tex.–28) seeks to prevent children from having sex change treatments that they might regret later in life by making parents obtaining these procedures for their children criminals.
SB1646 would prohibit parents from “administering or supplying, or consenting to or assisting in the administering or supplying of puberty suppression prescription drug or cross-sex hormone to a child, other than an intersex child, for gender transitioning or gender reassignment.”
If passed, the bill would also remove children from the custody of individuals who allow or force hormone therapy and sex-change surgeries on them.
“Parents who break the proposed law would violate the state’s Family Code, which would trigger a Child Protective Investigation, resulting in the possible removal of the child from their home, according to Perry’s office. Doctors who perform sex-change treatments would also be accused of child abuse, which would trigger a license investigation by the Texas Medical Board,” according to KVUE news.
Hormone replacement therapy (HRT) and puberty blockers will be classified as child abuse under the bill.
On Monday, April 12, 2021, the Texas Senate Committee on State Affairs held a hearing over the bill.
“Children are unable to give informed consent. This bill gives children a chance to get to adulthood with intact bodies,” Republican Executive Committee Member Jill Glover testified.
Identifying himself in his testimony as “a dad, a grandad, and deacon in a Baptist church,” Perry, the bill’s lead sponsor, said he bore no ill will toward transgender people. Still, he felt obligated to protect children “who have not reached the maturity to understand what is being proposed nor the impact on them in perpetuity.’ He referred to affirmative care as “not reversible” and “life transformational and life-changing.”
According to the American Civil Liberties Union, at least 17 states are considering legislation that would prevent those under the age of 18 from obtaining transition-related health care.
The left is on a rampage over the bill, carefully claiming in articles that the legislation would deny healthcare for trans children—when in reality, it would only force them to wait until they are adults to make life-altering decisions.
Democrats, since the presidential campaign and now with the power of the White House, have always promoted gender ideology, LGBT, and particularly transgender issues as well.
Dr. Ben Carson, a retired pediatric neurosurgeon and former Secretary of Housing and Urban Development, in an interview on Friday, Feb. 26, described the push for left-wing transgender ideology on children, detailed in the new Equality Act and the progressive policies of the new Biden administration, as a genuine case of “child abuse.”
Carson is against those who promote sex change in children and adolescents, warning that this is not about science but abuse by those who seek to impose an ideology that goes against the traditional and biological values of the human species.
“Well, I think they have completely neglected biology. Biology tells us that there are males and there are females, and there’s a reason for that, and we also know that the human brain is an incredibly complex organ and it’s not fully developed until your mid-to late-twenties,” Carson told the Breitbart reporter.
“So why would you be asking a pre-adolescent about these complex issues?” Carson continued.“Why would we even be complicating their lives? Children are curious by nature, and of course, they’re going to ask questions and explore things. That doesn’t mean that they want to change their sex. And to confuse them in that way, I think, is child abuse. It certainly has nothing to do with science. These radical things are actually going to ruin people’s lives long term.”
Carson also talked about the pivotal role of the media and Big Tech in developing and impressing this transgender ideology. In a way, he warned that the issue is present in many aspects of society. However, not enough is said about it critically. When someone dares to do so, either by writing a book, an article on the Internet, or a video, they risk being censored.
