The state of Texas will stop providing public funds as of Feb. 3 to international abortionist Planned Parenthood and any other medical provider that promotes or performs abortions, Breitbart reported.

After a five-year legal battle between the abortionist and the state of Texas that opposed using taxpayer money for abortions, the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals in November 2020 overturned the lower federal court’s ruling to uphold Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton.

Being considered a provider of medical services although ultimately its primary function is to promote abortion, Planned Parenthood receives taxpayer money through Medicaid.

While the program is federal, states are free to choose how to use those funds.

Paxton argued that the abortion clinic did not qualify for public funds because the organization became involved in the sale of fetal parts.

“Undercover video plainly showed Planned Parenthood admitting to morally bankrupt and unlawful conduct, including violations of federal law by manipulating the timing and methods of abortions to obtain fetal tissue for their own research,” Paxton stated.

In the video cited by Paxton, an undercover reporter from the Center for Medical Progress is seen discussing the purchase of baby parts with Dr. Deborah Nucatola, Planned Parenthood’s senior director in charge of overseeing abortions nationwide.

Nucatola confirmed in the video that she could provide him with fetal parts and gave approximate prices for each part.

The abortionist’s argument for appealing the Texas decision was that patients must be free to choose their medical provider and the state cannot interfere with that decision.

However, the judge who ruled in favor of Texas, Chief United States Circuit Judge of the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit Priscilla Owen said, “The Medicaid Act leaves it up to a State to determine if a particular provider’s Medicaid agreement should be terminated because the provider is not ‘qualified’ or terminated on other grounds,” and it is not a matter of the patient’s personal preference.

Government funding is one of Planned Parenthood’s main sources of revenue.

According to Live Action News reimbursements and grants from government health services account for 37% of the abortion clinic’s revenue source.

Abortions disguised as medical services

Planned Parenthood’s false slogan is to make abortions “safe, legal and rare.” Yet statistics show that the clinic increases the number of abortions each year, casting serious doubt on its intention to make them “rare.”

In 2018 Planned Parenthood performed 332,757 abortions nationwide, while in 2019 the figure rose 345,672. In just two years nearly 700,000 lives were taken by Planned Parenthood before birth.

Live Action News noted that taxpayer money to Planned Parenthood had increased 69.8% in the last decade, which went from receiving $363.2 million in 2008 to $616.8 million in 2018.

The news was welcomed by the religious community

“We are grateful that Texas has finally taken the steps to fully remove abortion providers from all state Medicaid funding,” Jennifer Allmon, executive director of the Texas Catholic Conference of Bishops stated.

The state of Missouri also made news recently by being named the first abortion-free state, but not because it removed funding for abortion providers, but because its residents decided to stop going to abortion providers.
