A teenager died after he was shot in the face with an AR-15 rifle Monday morning, Aug. 5, Converse police said.

Police were called to the scene of a shooting in the 7500 block of Gander Park, in San Antonio at about 7 a.m., and found a 15-year-old boy with a gunshot wound to the face.

The boy was rushed to San Antonio Military Medical Center in critical condition and died shortly after he was hospitalized.

Police said the person responsible for the shooting is a friend of the victim’s older brother, but the shooter fled the scene. Officials said they believe the shooter knew the victim and acted intentionally.

Police are searching for the shooter.
