The act of kindness of a JCPS teacher gave a student at Tully Elementary School an opportunity to go with her friends on a field trip.
The 10-year-old daughter of Shelly King, Ryan, has spina bifida and is using a wheelchair. King said that her daughter is often unable to accompany her friends on field trips as there is not always access to the places.
When they learned about an upcoming field trip to the fossil beds at the Falls of Ohio, King was expected to keep her daughter home or schedule their own field trip. But Jim Freeman, a teacher at Ryan’s school, offered to carry her on his back to explore with her class.
Ryan was able to attend the field trip independently of her mother thanks to Freeman, which King said was important.
King posted Freeman’s kindness on Facebook, expressing her appreciation to local educators.
