Two people were found suffering from apparent drug overdoses at a home in Tierrasanta, California, on Wednesday, Aug.7, less than 48 hours after a toddler was discovered dead there in her mother’s vehicle, NBC7 reported.
The medical emergency in Leary Street’s 10300 blocks was reported about 10:15 a.m., according to San Diego police.
Medics took a man and a woman to the hospital for treatment of suspected overdoses, said SDPD Public Affairs Officer Billy Hernandez. Further details, including the type of drugs possibly involved, were not released.
Early Monday afternoon, Aug.5, a woman who lives at the home in the military housing complex just east of Interstate 15 made a 911 called to report that she had just woken up and couldn’t find her 2-year-old daughter. The mother’s line then went dead, said Hernandez.
A short time later, the woman called back and told a dispatcher that she had found her baby in her vehicle, unresponsive and not breathing.
Medics went to the home and tried in vain to revive the baby before pronouncing her dead at the scene.
The woman has not been arrested or charged in connection with the death of her daughter, according to Hernandez.
The toddler’s father identified her as Scarlett Grace Harris.
The case remains under investigation by the San Diego Police Department Child Abuse Unit.
The mother was not one of the people at the residence involved in the medical emergency of Wednesday morning, Aug.7, the spokesman said.
