Police said the suspect–a 20-year-old Modesto man named Favian Ramirez–approached Eades to make a purchase before shooting her and grabbing cash from the register and fleeing the scene.
Modesto police say, with the help of the dealership and other information from a local used-car dealership, they were able to identify Ramirez as the suspect.
Ramirez was arrested at a home in Ceres a short time later. He is facing charges of murder and robbery and he is being held without bail.
A store employee said that the store would be closed for at least a week out of respect for Eades and her family, according to Fox News. The station reported that Eades was a mother of a grown daughter and two small boys.
“She was just amazing. Anybody who met her, she would just light up a room,” friend Mikala Price told KCRA 3.
