The director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Robert Redfield, said on Thursday , Nov. 19, during a White House press conference that schools during the CCP Virus pandemic should remain open because they are the safest places for children from many perspectives. This is the position that President Trump advocated, while the left and Democrats who advocate endless quarantines have tried to boycott since the beginning of the pandemic.

“The truth is for kids K–12, one of the safest places they can be, from our perspective, is to remain in school,” Redfield said during the White House press conference with the coronavirus task force led by Vice President Mike Pence.

Redfield noted that those who advocate school closures do so only based on “emotional issues” or political interests, but not from a scientific or data base.

“I’m here to say clearly the data strongly supports that K–12, as well as institutions of higher learning, really are not where we are having our challenges,” he said.

The few cases of the virus that were identified in schools, he said, were the result of meeting in public or contracting the virus in small family gatherings.

Redfield even said that keeping children in school was critical to overall public health. There is enough scientific evidence to determine the severe damage to children from being locked up and not being able to share peer learning.

“Extensive data gathered in the last few months proved that K–12 schools could be open for in-person, face-to-face learning safely and responsibly,” Redfield said.

Emily Oster, an economist at Brown University in Rhode Island, analyzed data from about 200,000 children in 47 states and concluded that elementary and secondary schools are not super-propagators of the CCP Virus as the media and some Democratic leaders have been reporting recently, Breitbart reported.

Oster analyzed the data from two weeks in September and the results were really encouraging: among 1,000 children only 1.3 were infected, while among teachers 2.2 out of 1,000 people tested positive for the CCP Virus.

For several months now, the Trump administration has been defending this position. At a White House event in August, President Trump repeated his claim that the Democrats want to keep schools closed for political reasons rather than health reasons, arguing that it would benefit them in the recent presidential election.

He made the same claim on Twitter the day before when he said, “Corrupt Joe Biden and the Democrats don’t want to open schools in the Fall for political reasons, not for health reasons! They think it will help them in November. Wrong, the people get it!”

The Trump administration stood firm, even warning that it would take away federal education funds from states that were reluctant to open educational institutions.

The same statistics from the CDC, show that the virus is most deadly to people over 65 and with pre-existing conditions, while healthy children and youth are resistant and the effect of the virus on them is similar to that of a seasonal flu.
