Retired Gen. Jack Keane in an interview with the Breitbart News on Monday, March 16, said that President Donald Trump “is on the mark” in addressing the CCP Virus (Chinese Communist Party) outbreak and urged Americans to support the president.

“I think the president is on the mark in dealing with this crisis. I  do think it’s unfortunate that people poke at him politically, and the fact he’s a Republican shouldn’t be relevant at this point.” Keane said.

“The nation is facing a crisis. We’ve got a leader in charge of it. Let’s get there and support him whether he’s a Republican or Democrat. That’s the way I think we should be approaching the problem,” he added.

Keane reminded the public that the United States already experienced the H1N1 swine flu in 2009 and 2010 when “61 million people were infected and 12,000-plus died of it in that two-year time frame.”

“We didn’t go to battle stations as we seem to be going now and stopping everything from taking place,” he said.

Keane, 77,  said, “There is something of an overreaction” over the CCP Virus outbreak, noting that the survivability rate from the virus is 98%. He advised that the media outlets, instead of fuel the CCP Virus panic, “should put more emphasis on … the people who are recovering” from the virus and “let them tell their fellow Americans what their experience was like.”

“I heard one on television today, and she didn’t have much of anything. She had a cough, and she’s now fully out riding her mountain bike, and she’s exercising. She’s in her sixties. She was in good shape before she got it, and she’s fit as can be now and enjoying life. More things like that, I think, would help contain people’s concern about this,” he said.

“We’re America. We can deal with this. We’ve got the resources. We’ve got the best health care system in the world. We’re, generally speaking, a very healthy people to begin with. We’re gonna be okay,” Keane concluded.

The CCP Virus pandemic has infected over 180,000 people and killed over 7,000 worldwide, mostly in China. More than 79,000 people have recovered from it so far. There are more than 4,000 confirmed cases and at least 80 have died from the virus in the United States.

President Trump on Monday vowed that his government “is prepared to do whatever it takes” to curb the virus crisis, announcing a set of guidelines that he said Americans should follow to prevent the further spread of the virus.

“Each and every one of us has a critical role to play in stopping the spread and transmission of the virus,” President Trump said during a briefing of the coronavirus task force. “If everyone makes this change or these critical changes and sacrifices now. We will rally together as one nation and we will defeat the virus.”

In the most recent survey, conducted March 13-16 by the Morning Consult, 47% of Americans approved of the president’s handling of the CCP Virus outbreak and 43 percent disapproved.
