Following reports of a shooting at the shop on Tuesday afternoon, Aug. 6, authorities and paramedics swarmed a Baton Rouge Walmart.
WBRZ-TV reported that a shooting at around noon at the Walmart near the corner of Burbank Drive and Bluebonnet Boulevard was verified by the Baton Rouge Police Department.
There was also a large police presence outside the shop, including a helicopter and representatives from the East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s office. Other Walmarts in the Baton Rouge region are also being checked by authorities, reports WBRZ.
There is no sign from the Advocate that there was an active shooter.
“It’s a big, active scene, but we haven’t found any victims at the moment,” Emergency Medical Services spokesperson for East Baton Rouge Mike Chustz told.
Sources witnessed, after the shooting, a victim drove to the hospital after being shot at the shop, one individual was taken into custody.
