Over the past 18 months, 331 illegal immigrants have been charged with 1,172 rapes and sexual assaults of children in North Carolina, according to figures compiled by an independent researcher.
The data was shared by NCFIRE (North Carolinians For Immigration Reform and Enforcement), an organization led by James Johnson, a retired electrician concerned about children and sex crimes.
Through his organization, Johnson has been tracking rapes and sexual assaults on children committed by illegal immigrants since 2013, using original police reports and calling detention agencies to verify the immigration status of offenders.
His data does not cover every month, but during the 54 months he has recorded, an average of 34 illegal aliens per month were charged with 151 counts of rape or sexual assault of a child in North Carolina.
In addition, a study shows that only 12 percent of child rapes are reported, according to the National Sexual Violence Resource Center, meaning that the total number could be much higher.
Every month, Johnson sends a report to North Carolina lawmakers and more than 350 media outlets, finding no response from them, according to The Epoch Times.
Johnson points out that the problem is much worse than people might think, and holds government and the media accountable for not highlighting the issue sufficiently.
“If the public knew how much this was actually happening, first of all, they’d be just shocked. And secondly, I think there would be a revolt,” Johnson told the Epoch Times.
“It’s happening in every state—we just happen to be compiling the information. It’s a mess,” he added.
The crimes listed on the NCFIRE website range from consummated rape to indecent exposure.
Last May, Jin Rafael Deleon-Sales was arrested in Hanover County and charged with rape of a 4 to 6-year-old girl, according to its website.
In the meantime, Ignacio Cortez Macedo was convicted in Mecklenburg County in April on three counts of forced sex against a 13-year-old girl, among other charges.
A Guilford County man, Miguel Alberto Guerra-Alba, was arrested in April and charged with seven counts of first-degree rape.
These are just a few cases reviewed on the page.
In their page they explain that NCFIRE is an organization that represents the interest of citizens in stopping the flooding of illegal aliens into North Carolina. “We simply can’t afford illegal aliens’ tremendous costs any longer. The damage incurred, the crimes, costs and physical and emotional damage these people are causing, are just too great.”
In June, more than 3,100 illegal immigrants were detained per day by Border Patrol along the southern border, according to Customs and Border Protection statistics.
