China Daily, one of China’s main propaganda outlets controlled by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) has paid nearly $19 million since December 2016 to U.S. media companies to spread propaganda, new government documents showed.

Documents filed with the Justice Department under the Foreign Agent Registration Act showed that China Daily paid U.S. newspapers for advertising and printing services, which “often contain a pro-Beijing spin,” according to the Daily Caller Foundation

The Washington Post and The Wall Street Journal have so far been top clients of China Daily. They have been paid more than $4.6 million and nearly $6 million respectively over the past four years to publish paid supplements called “China Watch.”

“One insert from September 2018 touted an initiative pushed by Chinese leader Xi Jinping with the headline: “Belt and Road aligns with African nations.” The same insert ran a story titled “Tariffs to take toll on U.S. homebuyers” that asserted that U.S. tariffs on Chinese lumber would raise the cost of building homes in the United States,” reported the Daily Caller.

The Justice Department’s filings also showed other media outlets working with China Daily: The New York Times ($50,000), Foreign Policy ($240,000), The Des Moines Register ($34,600) and CQ-Roll Call ($76,000). China Daily was reported spending $265,822 on advertising with Twitter and more than $7.6 million to newspaper companies like the Boston Globe, Houston Chronicle, Los Angeles Times, Chicago Tribune, and Atlanta Journal-Constitution, among others, to print its papers.

President Donald Trump has criticized the Chinese Communist Party’s (CCP) handling of the CCP Virus pandemic that has claimed more than 414,000 deaths worldwide and shattered the global economy. The president said the CCP’s “disinformation and propaganda attack on the United States and Europe is a disgrace,” adding, “It all comes from the top. They could have easily stopped the plague, but they didn’t!”

The president said he believes that Beijing “will do anything they can” to make him lose his re-election bid in November and the CCP wants his Democratic opponent, Joe Biden, to win the election “so they can continue to rip off the United States.”

“China is on a massive disinformation campaign because they are desperate to have Sleepy Joe Biden win the presidential race so they can continue to rip-off the United States, as they have done for decades, until I came along!” the president said.

President Trump has also repeatedly criticized news outlets such as The Washington Post, The New York Times, CNN, NBC, among others, for siding with the CPP in the fight against the virus pandemic.
