Illegal immigrant protesters pulled down the U.S. flag and replaced it with the Mexican flag Friday, July 12, outside the Immigration and Customs Enforcement building in Aurora, Colorado. This was part of a national protest against the possible federal immigration roundups.

Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) will begin deportations on Sunday, July 14, and focus on removing criminals, President Trump said on Friday.

“There’s nothing to be secret about. ICE is law enforcement. They’re great patriots. They have a tough job. Nothing to be secret about. If the word gets out, it gets out. Because hundreds of people know about it. It’s a major operation,” President Trump told reporters on July 12.

According to the Washington Times, a crowd estimated at over 1,000 gathered outside the detention facility, to protest possible federal roundups of some illegal immigrants. Some protesters broke through a fence and damaged the flags.

Eventually, the American flag was running back up the flagpole, but upside down and spray-painted with the words “Abolish ICE,” as shown in video and photos.

President Trump’s son, Donald Trump Jr., shared the video in his tweet, asking “How many Democrats will denounce this?”

He emphasized, “Remember, this is not an invasion.”

Following this news, Sen. Ted Cruz (R- Texas) also raised the question to Democratic presidential candidates:

“The predictable result of the 2020 Dems’ radical open borders policies. Every Dem presidential candidate should be asked the hard Q: “Do you agree w/ the ICE protestors taking down the American flag & replacing it with a Mexican flag?” They’ll want to virtue-signal “yes,” but….”

Colorado Gov. Jared Polis was the first prominent Democrat to comment on the incident Saturday afternoon, tweeting, “Of course I condemn the desecration of our flag, who wouldn’t?”

“Now will you condemn the ongoing and even more serious offense to our flag and values of putting children in cages and tearing families apart?” he tweeted.

Charlie Kirk, the founder & president of TPUSA Proud capitalist, commented that the slogan of Democrats 2020 should be “Make America Mexico.”
