As in previous years, President Donald Trump welcomed the winners of several U.S. sports teams to the White House to congratulate them. On Nov. 22, the champions of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) shared a pleasant and warm welcome with their host.
The video posted from the White House shows a happy group interacting with the president. The shots reveal men’s and women’s teams and even show how the young people shake hands with the president.
“Thank you very much, everybody. We’re having a great year. This has been an amazing year for our economy. And meeting these athletes—they’re real athletes, I can tell you. It’s a tremendous achievement. And we’re bringing many of them over to the Oval Office,” Donald Trump said at the event.
Among the teams present, Duke won its seventh national title at the Blessings Golf Club in Fayetteville, Arkansas, in May after defeating Wake Forest, 3-2, in match play.
Stanford’s team won its ninth title in program history with a 3-2 win in match play over Texas at Blessings, Golfweek reported.
On this occasion, Secretary of Education Betsy DeVos, and members of Congress also participated.
After meeting with the student athletes, the president addressed the press on economic, international, and political issues, according to the C-Span report.
