Before leaving the White House for a vacation on Friday, Aug. 9, where President Trump will spend the time at his Bedminster residence in New Jersey. President Trump speaks to reporters with some very positive words about Kim Jong Un and North Korea. On the lawn of the White House, the president answered questions from reporters. One asking if Kim Jon Un mentioned anything about a next meeting with the United States.
“I think we’ll have another meeting. He really wrote a beautiful three page, I mean right from top to bottom, a really beautiful letter. And maybe I’ll release the results of the letter but it was very positive,” said President Trump.
He went on to say how the nature of the letter, which was hand-delivered, was quite incredible. The president pointed out there is “something nice” about using an old fashioned system like that, when you don’t have to worry about leaks.
In his final remarks, President Trump answered whether he felt Kim Jong Un was unhappy with the military exercise between the United States and South Korea.
“No, he wasn’t. He wasn’t happy with the tests, the war games, the war games on the other side with the United States. And you know I’ve never liked any that I’ve never liked and I’ve never been a fan you know why? I don’t like paying for it. We should be reimbursed for it and I’ve told that to South Korea. But I don’t like it either but I said do this because this was a big test. This was a turnover of various areas to South Korea. I liked that because that’s what should happen,” said President Trump.
The president then saluted a Marine before waving farewell to the American people as he boarded the Marine One ready to take off for Bedminster, New Jersey, on Friday, Aug. 9.
