The Biden administration announced its decision to lift U.S. sanctions on Yemen’s Iranian-backed Houthi terrorist group amid a flurry of provisions trashing former President Donald Trump’s accomplishments.
“After a comprehensive review, we can confirm that [Secretary of State Antony Blinken] intends to revoke the Foreign Terrorist Organization and Specially Designated Global Terrorist designations of Ansarallah,” the State Department announced according to Fox News on Feb. 5.
Biden’s decisions could lead to an unpredictable increase in violence in the Near East, given that it would go against the peace alliances established in that region of the world by former President Trump, who also did not initiate a war anywhere in the world during his presidency.
This armed group was declared a “foreign terrorist organization” (FTO) to isolate Iran and support the Saudis.
“The Houthi forces are terrorists, underwritten by the theocracy, the kleptocracy that runs the Islamic Republic of Iran,” said former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo in a statement last month.
He added: “That regime is funding a missile program, funding capabilities inside of Yemen that put Europe at risk, put the Middle East at risk.”
Houthi militias seized much of Yemen’s territory, including the capital of Sana’a, in 2014 in their separatist war against the government.
For its part, Saudi Arabia formed a coalition and counterattacked in 2015. Casualties totaled 112,000 people, and the country’s infrastructure was razed to the ground.
The Houthis also caused “continued widespread violations of human rights and international law with impunity; and of escalating fighting and its impact on the civilian population, including displacement,” according to a report revealed by Fox News.
Simultaneously 13.5 million Yemenis are food insecure, according to U.N. estimates.
The U.N. also confirmed that the Iranian regime is sending weapons and spare parts, including anti-tank guided missiles, sniper rifles, and anti-tank rocket launchers, to the Houthis.
The crisis with Iran is caused by its failure to comply with the agreement. It was to suspend uranium enrichment, an essential element in the manufacture of destructive atomic bombs and financing terrorism in the world.
For these reasons, former President Trump broke away from that failed agreement and imposed drastic sanctions on the Iranian regime.
On the other hand, during his few days in office, Biden’s actions are characterized by a strong tendency to comply with the leftist agenda and destroy Trump’s legacy.
Republicans hope to hold the president accountable for executive orders that could prove most harmful to Americans.
McDaniel wrote in the Daily Caller on Feb. 5, “The Swamp is back running the show, with Biden wasting no time implementing the destructive, job-killing policies Republicans cautioned Americans about on the campaign trail.”
The Republican Party intends to hold Biden and the Democrats accountable in defense of Americans’ interests.
McDaniel believes that the citizens will make his party retake the majorities in the Senate and the House of Representatives, to return with policies “that create jobs, economic growth and expand opportunities for all,” he said
