Killeen police are asking for the public’s help locating an armed and dangerous man after a shooting happened on Thursday, Oct. 10. He is considered mentally unstable, according to KXXV.

Police said Nathan Erick Nance, 43, fired randomly at objects Thursday morning at the Bridgewater Retreat apartment complex. No injuries were reported.

Nance was last seen wearing a checkered black and white shirt and black shorts in the 500 block of Wolf Street off Hallmark. Police said given his mental instability.

Officers are going door-to-door looking for Nance. A helicopter is in the area looking for him.

Students of Bellaire school and Clifton Park elementary school have been taken from portable classrooms inside the school building. They are also not being allowed outside for recess until the suspect is caught, according to the district.

“The district is aware of an active KPD investigation near Joyner this morning. Students living in the area had already been picked up for school before the incident occurred. Students were never in any danger. KPD is working with KISD Police and will inform us if we need to modify any routes later today pending their investigation. All questions regarding the incident should be directed to KPD,” Killeen ISD said in an issued statement on the shooting.
